Set up a Widget

Once we have created our PickupSelect account (we can register using our email address, Google, or GitHub), we need to create our first map widget.

In the "My Map Widgets" menu, we need to create a new widget. (We can create multiple widgets within one account, the maximum number of which is determined by the pricing plan of our account.

Widget appearance settings

You can specify whether the widget should use a dark or light theme and set the primary and secondary colors. These settings are intended to help the PickupSelect element fit in with the color scheme of your page.

Widget language

The widget is available in 23 languages: Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish and Swedish.

After specifying the default language of the widget, you can select the translation mode. This can be:

Intelligent

The widget first attempts to detect the website's language, then the user's browser language. If unavailable, it seamlessly falls back to the widget's default language.

Always Default

The widget always uses the default language, ignoring the language of the website and the browser.

Allowed Origins

One domain per line. Add the domains that are allowed to access this widget. Use full URLs (e.g., https://example.com)

The * character can be used as a wildcard. So if you want to allow all subdomains of the example.com domain, use the value *.example.com.

The widget will only be accessible from the domains listed here, which allows us to control unauthorized use.

Geocoding method

There is a search field in the widget. Users can use this to search by address or city.

PickupSelect Internal

If you do not want to use Google Maps API (which may incur costs), select PickupSelect internal mode. If you use this, you can search by city and postal code in the widget (in our experience, this is usually sufficient).

Google Maps

If you want to allow more sophisticated searches (e.g., by specific street or house number), you will need to use the Google Maps API. To do this, you will need an API key. We explain how to obtain a key on this page.

Enabled countries and carriers

Here you can set which countries and carriers within those countries the widget should handle. Lists of supported countries and carriers:
